The very name of Ayodhya fills every Hindu heart with deep devotion. It is believed to be the sacred land where Lord Ram, the embodiment of virtue and dharma, was born. This is why Ayodhya is called the Ram Janmabhoomi (birthplace of Lord Ram), and it is here that the grand Ram Mandir now stands.
The Birthplace of Lord Ram
Ancient scriptures like the Valmiki Ramayana and Skanda Purana describe Ayodhya, situated on the banks of the Sarayu River, as a divine city established by the gods. Here ruled King Dasharatha, and it was in his palace that Lord Ram was born to Queen Kaushalya during the Treta Yuga.
This very place has always been revered as the birthplace of Lord Ram.
From Temple to Mosque and the Beginning of a Struggle
Looking back at history, in the 16th century, Babur’s general Mir Baqi built a mosque at this very site, which later came to be known as the Babri Masjid. Yet, the faith of Hindus never faded. For centuries, devotees continued to worship Lord Ram at the spot, believing that the divine presence of Ram Lalla (infant Ram) never left the land.
Over time, this became one of the most debated and sensitive issues in Indian history — a struggle between faith, politics, and identity.
The Rise of the Movement
In 1949, idols of Ram Lalla appeared inside the mosque structure. From then onward, worship never stopped.
In the 1980s and 1990s, the Ram Mandir movement grew into a massive wave. Millions of devotees across India raised their voices, chanting “Jai Shri Ram”, demanding a temple at the Janmabhoomi.
On December 6, 1992, the disputed Babri structure was demolished, and the matter became a subject of long legal battles.
The Historic Verdict
On November 9, 2019, the Supreme Court of India delivered a landmark judgment. The court ruled that the land was indeed the birthplace of Lord Ram, clearing the way for the construction of the temple.
Temple Construction and Consecration
On August 5, 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the Bhoomi Poojan (groundbreaking ceremony) in Ayodhya. For millions of Hindus, it was a moment of tears and joy — a dream cherished for centuries was finally becoming reality.
On January 22, 2024, the grand consecration of Ram Lalla took place in the new Ram Mandir. The whole world witnessed the moment when Lord Ram was once again enthroned in his birthplace.
The Present-Day Ram Mandir
Today, the Ram Mandir stands as one of the greatest symbols of India’s spirituality, culture, and devotion. Its magnificent architecture, intricate carvings, and divine aura attract millions of devotees and visitors each year. For them, it is not just a temple, but the fulfillment of centuries of patience, struggle, and unwavering faith.
And now, with pride and devotion, every pilgrim chants —
“Ram Lalla is home again.” 🚩
👉 The story of Ram Mandir is not merely about stone and mortar — it is about faith, endurance, and the spiritual heartbeat of millions of people.
Jai Shri Ram! 🙏
