हिमाचल प्रदेश की वादियों में, कुल्लू के पार्वती घाटी की ऊँचाई पर एक ऐसा मंदिर स्थित है जिसे लोग “चमत्कारों का मंदिर” कहते हैं। यह है बिजली महादेव मंदिर। यहाँ हर साल एक अनोखा दृश्य देखने को मिलता है — मंदिर के गर्भगृह में स्थित शिवलिंग पर आकाशीय बिजली गिरती है, शिवलिंग टूट जाता है, और फिर अगले दिन मक्खन और आटे से जोड़े जाने के बाद वह अपने पूर्ण रूप में खड़ा हो जाता है।

बिजली महादेव कहाँ स्थित है?
यह मंदिर समुद्र तल से लगभग 8,000 फीट (2460 मीटर) की ऊँचाई पर, कुल्लू घाटी के ऊपर स्थित है। यहाँ तक पहुँचने के लिए भक्तों को हरे-भरे देवदार और चीड़ के जंगलों से होकर लगभग 3 किलोमीटर की चढ़ाई करनी पड़ती है।
जब आप ऊपर पहुँचते हैं, तो दृश्य ऐसा लगता है मानो धरती पर स्वर्ग उतर आया हो। नीचे ब्यास और पार्वती नदियों का संगम दिखता है और चारों ओर बर्फ से ढकी धौलाधार और हिमालय की चोटियाँ शिव की तरह प्रहरी बनकर खड़ी रहती हैं।
क्यों कहलाता है बिजली महादेव?
मंदिर का नाम ही इसकी विशेषता बताता है — “बिजली” यानी आकाशीय बिजली और “महादेव” यानी भगवान शिव।
- हर साल यहाँ शिवलिंग पर बिजली गिरती है।
- बिजली के प्रभाव से शिवलिंग चकनाचूर हो जाता है।
- लेकिन पुजारीजन टुकड़ों को एकत्र कर मक्खन और सत्तू से जोड़ देते हैं।
- अगली सुबह शिवलिंग फिर से संपूर्ण रूप में प्रकट हो जाता है।

असुर कुलांत की कहानी
कहते हैं कि पार्वती घाटी में कभी कुलांत नामक असुर रहता था। वह इतना शक्तिशाली था कि उसने सोचा ब्यास नदी का प्रवाह रोक देगा। यदि ऐसा हो जाता तो पूरी घाटी जलमग्न हो जाती और असंख्य जीव नष्ट हो जाते।
देवता भयभीत होकर भगवान शिव से प्रार्थना करने लगे।
शिव का प्रकट होना
भगवान शिव ने अपनी करुणा से प्रकट होकर असुर कुलांत से युद्ध किया। भयंकर संग्राम हुआ और अंत में महादेव ने अपने त्रिशूल से कुलांत का वध कर दिया।
कहते हैं कि उसकी विशाल देह ही पर्वत का रूप लेकर आज भी घाटी की रक्षा कर रही है।
बिजली का रहस्य

- दृश्य: ऊपर पहुँचने पर पूरी कुल्लू घाटी का मनोरम दृश्य मिलता है।
- मंदिर: लकड़ी से बना यह मंदिर भव्यता में नहीं, बल्कि सादगी और दिव्यता में अद्वितीय है। मंदिर के ऊपर खड़ा ऊँचा ध्वज और त्रिशूल ही इसकी पहचान है।
महाशिवरात्रि का उत्सव
हालाँकि मंदिर पूरे साल खुला रहता है, लेकिन महाशिवरात्रि के दिन यहाँ विशेष भीड़ होती है। दूर-दूर से लोग डोल-नगाड़ों और भजनों के साथ पहुँचते हैं। दूध, फूल, बेलपत्र और मक्खन चढ़ाकर भक्त शिवलिंग के दर्शन करते हैं।
कहते हैं कि इस दिन मंदिर में खड़ा होने पर हवा तक “हर हर महादेव” का जप करती है।
बिजली का प्रतीक
वैज्ञानिक दृष्टि से देखा जाए तो ऊँचाई और धातु के त्रिशूल की वजह से यहाँ बिजली गिरना स्वाभाविक है। पर भक्तों के लिए यह केवल विज्ञान नहीं, बल्कि आस्था का प्रश्न है।
हर बिजली गिरना यह संदेश देता है कि —
“मैं अपने भक्तों के कष्ट अपने ऊपर लेता हूँ।”

कई लोग बताते हैं कि यहाँ दर्शन करके उनके जीवन की मुश्किलें हल हो गईं। किसी किसान को वर्षा मिली, किसी बीमार बच्चे को स्वास्थ्य, तो किसी परिवार को शांति।
